Higashi Chaya District
Travel back in time to the Higashi Chaya District with an atmosphere of days gone by when samurai walked the streets. Chaya was a place for social gatherings where geisha put on performances, and visitors can tour the place during the day. There are numerous Kanazawa gold leaf shops in Higashi Chaya, a traditional handicraft of Kanazawa, and visitors can watch the craftspeople at work or take part in workshops. It is worth visiting during the day, but taking a stroll in the evening is also recommendable to see the dim light from the gaslights light up the stone pavement.
